Music in the Key of We – An Anniversary Celebration of Community will be an inspiring and unifying event, celebrating Harrisburg’s renaissance along with three significant anniversaries: Stuart Malina’s 20th season as music director, the Harrisburg Symphony Society’s 30th season, and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra’s 90th season. The event will start at 4:00 pm and will feature the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra supplemented by jazz legend Steve Rudolph and other local jazz musicians, a gospel choir, and a massive chorus, hundreds strong, for the finale of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, the famous Ode to Joy. It will be as representative of our region as it will be beautiful to behold.
Join us on November 14, 2020 in the 7,000-seat New Holland Arena at the Farm Show Complex, as we step outside the typical orchestral venue and into a more relaxed and casual atmosphere.

Local jazz legends Steve Rudolph and Jonathan Ragonese get things started musically with a jazz-flavored first half. They’re joined by a hand-picked rhythm section along with vocalists Perky Scott, Diane Wilson Bedford and a gospel choir, augmented by the full Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra.
After a brief intermission, the Harrisburg Symphony returns to the stage to perform the complete Ninth Symphony of Beethoven, culminating in its famous “Ode to Joy” choral finale celebrating the universal brotherhood of mankind. To many, it’s the greatest symphony ever written! Stuart Malina conducts the orchestra along with four vocal soloists and a massed choir of several hundred voices from all over Central Pennsylvania, as prepared by Linda Tedford.
After the concert ends and with the glorious Ninth Symphony still echoing throughout the New Holland Arena, the arena floor will be magically transformed into a spectacular “Afterglow Party” venue. Sponsors and other table-seated guests will enjoy a fabulous dinner and dancing to a live DJ. A perfect ending to a memorable 90th anniversary celebration!
